How far down can you go?

On average, how far down the rank list do most medicine applicants go? I've heard that we should at least get one of our top 3. Is this true? What is the lowest you have heard of someone going?

I dont know about Top 3...but maybe Top 5. I know some schools boast about how much get top 3 (I remember hopkins says 90-98%) but I remember from my med school interviews that numbers ranged (lowest I saw was 75% at a top 15 med school)

I think it also depends on which programs you ranked. If it's Brigham or UCSF, you have low odds. From what I have heard, Brigham only goes down 45-60 to match, and UCSF about 60.
