I agree it should be personal but it should also be formal. No slangs or "something" etc

The degree of formality of a ps might be a function of how serious you expect adcoms to take you.

The technical parts of your PS should be formal, grammar, punctuation, etc. but you can let your personality shine through your text. NEVER use contractions, ellipses, etc. in a formal paper unless it is a direct quote. I also agree with Doc though, consider this PS your initial interview for your "job".
