how helpful are step II scores

hello all, this is my first post.
how helpfull are step II scores. when is the best time to take step II. i'm shooting for a competitive gen surgery spot, if step II will help , i'll take the month of august off and do it, if not, i'd rather take it in december. thanks all.

In your case, I think taking it early could help you. Many individuals with scores in your range (i.e., 230-240) can see a substantial jump in your score if you dedicate a month for studying. I can't imagine that your score would fall at all if you studied for a month. I think you would stand a very good chance of bumping up to 245+.

thanks for the reply frank. by the way, its future cardiovascular or trauma/critical care surgeon. probably will do both
