How important are medprep programs?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
don't they give like grades and rank you or something? Someone brought this up a while ago this year and I thought that is a terrible way of spending your summer in confrontation to research/travel. Unless you are a borderline applicant and you REALLY want to get into that one specific school, I don't think it matters. If anything, there are more chances of it hurting you since if you don't do well, it will show. I know a couple of people who did this type of program 50/50% got into medical school. Don't really know if I care enough to apply.

I'm borderline and the school is in-state so I would like to go there. I'm also afraid of it hurting me if I don't do well. The program also runs a full day starting at around 9. Not sure if I can be dedicated to this.

yea I don't know, you just have to set up a regime and be totally devoted to it cause it can make you or break you. I'd do it personally to prepare for medical school if I was in college, but if I was out, I'd want to earn as much money before medical school as I can (knowing that I got in).
