Sorry for posting another poll by this lowly pre-med, but I had to ask because out of the three schools which I am looking at, two allows it and one does not. Thank you.

There are a lot of good reasons to attend/not attend schools and there are a lot of trivial ones. This falls in the latter category. Unless third year extends past July then this will be rather insignificant.

This isn't a reason to choose one school over another. There are so many more important factors in choosing a school.

considering they are all equal as in all their pluses and minuses all even out... (western, nsu, ccom)

Dont get me wrong, its great that you are a curious pre-med.....

But your threads are popping up left and right with questions that could be answered by a search or the answers are subjective.

I expect to come on here one day and you will have started a thread to ask "whats it like to use a stethoscope?!"

Totally teasing you! 😛

Ya i know deciding between schools is never easy. You are comparing Western, CCOM and what?

FWIW, you're not really going to be able to impress on auditions as a 3rd year. Your skillset will be limited, you won't have had all your core disciplines yet, and many programs won't even take 3rd years from other schools for auditions. Furthermore, what if your elective block falls before your core rotation in the specialty you're interested in? Seems a little backwards.

The chances of you leaving a positive impression will be much greater during your 4th year.

Personally as a 2nd yr I think NSU is a great school and Im really happy I decided to go here. Of course no school is perfect. I think you have to do some more research on the different schools and consider location, family, and where you think you will be happier.

3rd year rotations are pretty bogus. You know nothing and a lot of it is standing around listening to everyone who is more important than you, sitting in lectures, etc. To choose a school over one 4 week 3rd year elective is super silly because it is TOTALLY IRRELEVANT to doing audition rotations for 4th year when trying to pick a residency.
