DO student here. I'm planning to take Step 1 after taking Step 2 in August. Programs will probably receive my step 1 scores around end of September or Early October. have history of failed comlex level 1, so I do not want to rush to take my exam. How bad is this going to hurt my chances in matching into anesthesia? I

I know someone who didn’t submit ERAS until after 10/1. Had a step 2 failure so he waited for the passing score to submit. He got one interview (psych) ONE. Had to SOAP.

So, very important to have it in earlier

Is it the same level of importance of submitting your AMCAS early on so that you can have the adcoms/PDs to read it ASAP?

If you can, I would take Step 1 in August instead of Step 2. At this point you are basically looking for programs which won't entirely screen you out for a failed COMLEX, and you want that number to be as high as possible.

Probably more important, because depending on your field, a substantial number of interviews may be sent out in September on the basis of Step 1 and letters alone. Interview season is only so long, so you want a quick start. I personally started receiving invites the week after ERAS submission which allowed me to start interviewing in early October.
