Army specifically. I'm an M1 trying to get sorted on how to spend my time during the next few years. I've never really done research, and from what I understand it seems like research got knocked off the list as a separate checkbox. Does it still play in to your ranking somehow? Should I bother to get more than cursory research if it ends up being something I don't care about? Currently planning on FM/Psych but keeping my options open.

Research is “important” from the aspect of it shows that someone was able to start a project, work with a team, and complete the project. Some specialties put much more emphasis on research in scoring all the categories (it shows communication, teamwork, potential for success, etc etc) and others less so. Don’t do research just to do it, but I recommend doing some project to get the experience and understand all the background “stuff” that goes on to make a project successful.

I've been working as a leader in corporate tech with a lot of projects management experience for about 7-8 years. Is that not considered on a similar level?
