Right now I have 4 chems, 3 bios, 2 physics before I can take the MCAT/apply. I was gonna take the conservative route and really not get involved w/ summer school but the more i think about it the more i am considering it.

Did you do this? How many classes did you take in one summer session? I'm thinking I could knock out bio2/chem1/chem 2 this summer...bio3, chem3 in the fall, physics1, chem4 in the spring, physics 2 in summer 1...mcats in august

tough schedule but that knocks a year off my wait time

If you are on a semester system, what is the third bio class? Also, are you taking into consideration labs?

If you are on a semester system and have two summer sessions, then it sounds very doable. I started the "premed" route at the end of my sophomore year and took summer courses so I could still apply on time. I fit in Chem 1 and Bio 2 (no prereq needed) during the spring of my sophomore year. Then I took Physics 1 & 2 plus labs, Chem 2 plus lab, and an elective during the summer. I was able to take Bio 1 and OChem 1, then OChem 2 during the next school year, which enabled me to take the April MCAT. If the Bio 3 course is elective, then I would skip it and try to go for the April MCAT over the August one. This will let you apply earlier and really improves your admissions chances.

Man oh man, whats the rush? Personally, I stayed away from accelerated science classes b/c I wanted to learn the stuff at a relatively modest pace. Instead, I decided to knock out some of the humanity classes that I didn't really care for (western civ).....for me it was a great move.

But, as others might tell you, knocking out some science classes is definately doable, but just remember that if we don't enjoy our summers NOW, they may never be the same in the future :horns:

Here's my situation:

I already have a degree in a totally different field. I am going back to try to get into med school. The bio 3 is just one of the 4 bios required by med schools, I was just using a generic term.

If I took both general bios, then the chems, and physics then took the mcat in april I could just do my other 2 bios at my own pace. hmmm...i hadnt thought of it that way

the schools i want allow you to apply before finishing the required courses as long as you have finished by the time you matriculate...

squeezed 5 years of course work into 4 years by taking a full load each summer.

I'm gonna have O chem and genetics this summer...I am NOT looking forward to that.
