Hey guys,

iam a pre-podiatry student. i spoke to admissions offcie and they said i need a Total Score of 17. What is this total score, i always heard of AA, PAT and RS. But never Total Score. Any idea what is total score and how is it calculated.

and how is AA calculated.

and how hard is to get a 17 on AA and a 17 on Total Score. ofcourse it depends on individual. but just to give u my stats, Science GPA 3.4 approx, with A in Bio, Zoololgy, Gen Chem and Bio Chem. i also have a B in Organic chem. i lost my grades mainly in that stupid Physics. i finished my organic in august first week(summer semester).

Plzz guys, reply as soon as you can. iam scheduled for DAT on August last week.

thank you

it is a very common mistake to think that TS is average of three sciences
but as yoy go thru this website, you see that people get 25 and 25 and 20 and their average becomes 24 instead of 23 !!
so how is that possible?
good question
AA and TS has its own curve and is totally unrelated to the "average" of what you got in each section
PAT never comes into any calculations
hope this helps
PS when/where are you taking the test? and are you a predent or prepod?

There is not "Total Score". TS stands for "Total Science", which is a scaled score of your Biology, Gen Chem, and Organic sections. A Total Science of 17 should be very easy to get with a little bit of studying

don't listen to thehipster, he obviously has no idea what he's talking about.... especially when it comes to the dat's.... ha

do podiatry students take the "Dental Admission Test"? i thought they maybe had their own test

Yes, Pre-Pods can take either the MCATs or DATs for Pod school. Starting 2007, the're changing it to MCAT only for most schools.

As for the DATs, the admissions person meant that you need a minimum of 17s total score as in at least 17s across the board (17 AA, 17 TS, 17 PAT). 17s are pretty easy to get if you have already taken your pre reqs. But of course you want to aim for 20's and higher, which will require more studying.

Thanks Boss! i guess u r also a Pre-pod. Or else you woudnt have said the exact answer which i wanted to hear. i think u also have been thru this process. iam applying for OCPM and CSPM (cali) and NYCPM for 2007. any tips on admission process will be greatly appreciated.

Rhode Island kids don't have any idea what they're talking about, i'm sure ernie agrees.

AA average is the rounded average of all sections except for the PAT.

TS is a scaled score based on the Bio, Chem, and OChem sections. It is not the average of the three scores but it is usually fairly close to the average.
