Private schools are often less expensive than public ones because they have more resources, which can be doled out as scholarships.

They receive a majority of their funding from the state of Texas. That is why they reserve 60% (SOON TO BE 70% 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 ) of the class for tex residents.

Plus they do have alot of financial resources like Rafa said.

Such a great private school, but very difficult to gain acceptance to if you are not a tex resident...so...it is a private school but at the same time it is not!!

Man I should have done the Rice/Baylor joint program....guaranteed spot without having to take the MCAT...and maintain a 3.4 in undergrad.

OFTEN??? Hmm.. somewhere I stumbled across a chart of how much debt graduates had on average from various schools. That chart would solve this debate, but alas, I can't remember where it was... hmmm...

maybe if i had gay sex with baylor he would let me in (and i'm from NY). But texas doesn't role that way*

*and neither do I **

**not that there's anything wrong with that.

Private schools are often less expensive than public ones? Which ones?! I'd agree that private schools have more money for scholarships but are you sure that the average debt of a public med school student is more than the debt of the average private med school student? I'm just curious.

These percentages were just debated on the Baylor acceptances thread. Based on the stats from the past 2 years Baylor accepted between 80-85% TX residents. This could just be speculation...

Officially, Baylor is supposed to accept at least 70% of its class from the Texas resident pool.

and officially Britney Spears was supposed to give birth to Chuck Norris but this never happened did it?

No one gives birth to Chuck Norris, as he was already alive before we were all created.

I don't know about "often" - here's a list of private school tuition.

I agree - endowments are the way they subsidize medical education.
