I will be attending medical school next year and have considered applying for the army HPSP. My grandfather served as a doctor in the army and I have cousins who are currently on active duty. I have always had an interest in the army and I feel some positive experiences can come out of it. I know there is a lot of BS associated with this scholarship but if I do it, I already expect it. My only reservation about doing the program is socially. I understand doctors in general will be working so hard that social time is limited to begin with; however, for the few hours a month that one does have free, how is it meeting women while in the army? It seems to me that this would be more difficult given the fact one is moving around more often. Obviously my main goal is to become a doctor and focus on the task ahead. If my continued interest in serving the country leads me to the army I will take whatever hardships come because that is what I will expect. However, I was just wondering.
