Hey guys, I would like your opinion on how I am doing so far and what I need to improve on to get into Dental schoo.

First year,
Psychology A
Bio C+
Chem 1 A
Chem 2 B+
Calculus A
Random Seminar B
Computer Science B

So, so far I have 3.34 GPA with +/- and 3.28 without, A little low I know.

This Year,
Biochem 1 B(maybe)
Physics A(maybe)
Bio 2 B-(maybe)
Astronomy A(maybe)

Next Semester
Biochem 2
Eng 1
Eng 2
Genetics
Astronomy

For my 3rd/4th year I am planning to take
Organic Chem, Immunology, Histology, Animal Physiology, Human Physiology, Neurobiology, Anatomy, Molecular Biology 1 and 2 , Physics, Microbiology and 1 elective

I am planning on working/studying for DAT this May-June, then going to Europe to visit relatives (July-Aug). At Europe, my uncle is a dentist and I will probably observe him for a while and also I will work with him on making teeth and other dental materials (he owns a dental lab).

I want to apply next summer, so I will be taking DAT after next Christmas

My q's are, 1. will taking 0.5 year of Organic chem preper me for DAT section on Organic
2. Is studying for DAT a couple hours a day (1-2) over entire summer is a good idea (or should I just dedicate a whole month to DAT)

3. Also, how important are EC's to dental schols?

Honestly base your scedule around this:

First you take Gen Chem 1
Then gen Chem 2

Sophmore year you take organic chemistry
and organic chemistry two

Junior year you take physics one and physics two

Senior year will mainly be your classes to finish your major. However during your organic chemistry and your junior year you should also be taknig a bio class or two.

Also with every single year be sure to add your electives required to "diversify" your education. These classes tend to be easier. Make sure also that you save a couple classes for your senior year since you dont want to be overwelmed with bio classes.

Thats the pretty standard schedule at my school.

Edit
Classes like biochemistry are not normally required for dental schools however its a good idea to take it since it will make dental school biochem a bit easier since you have background knowledge.

You've got to study harder in the biology courses... so far a C+ and a B- may raise red flags when you apply.
