How can my file be complete at 14 schools since the Aug scores were released mid-October--so for nearly 2 months now--and NOT ONE of them has actually reviewed my file yet? I still haven't heard anything--no interviews, no rejections, nothing. I called a bunch of schools today, and was just told my file is under review and I should hear something "in the next few weeks". I understand that many people have waited longer than 2 months to hear from some schools, but to not hear from any for that long? Isn't that a little weird? You'd think by now at least one or two might have made a decision to interview me (or not). I have decent stats (3.75/32), but with each passing week I am getting more and more depressed about my odds of getting in this year. Sorry to start another whiny thread about this, but I'm really amazed that so many schools could take so long to do anything. Could it be that my file has been reviewed at these schools, and passed over for interview but not rejected ("pre-interview hold")? Would schools tell me over the phone if that was the case? 😕

well, it is just one big waiting game. and yes, i've heard back from some schools but i applied to around 30 and have yet to hear anything post-secondary from 20 of them....so if those were the only 20 i applied to i would have heard nothing either. and your stats are excellent, the invites will start rolling in soon🙂 keep faith, and they get so many thousand applicants, just a matter of time before they get to yours.

I think there is a couple of possibilities.

Some schools have a pool of students and choose the best applicants from that pool to interview each interview phase. So you are probably not rejected but you are going to have to wait to see if you get invited. Usually from my personal experiences fast reply means rejections and slow can either be a mix of rejection or interview invite. This isn't a hard and fast rule but I think it's generally true.

If you're getting worried, which I can't blame you for, I suggest you write some letters of update, kissing some ass. I don't think it can hurt. Plus, show the schools that you love em.

Again, I am not 100% sure, so if anyone else can please correct me, please do so.

Its a long game. Just relax and don't worry so much. Your stats are above average for matriculants so you'll be fine.

I called various schools a few weeks ago to see if there was anything missing from my application as I had not heard from them. Two of the schools told me straight up on the telephone that I was rejected. The others said my application is still under review.

Ahh, your weekly freak-out thread has arrived. Look, all you can do is make sure that your file is complete at each school - everything was ok with AMCAS, your letters have been sent to every school (and received), and every other little point of order has been taken care of. You have better than decent stats - both your GPA and MCAT are above the average matriculants', and you have a solid shot of gettin accepted this time around. Patience, my friend, patience!!!

Yeah, I haven't heard from anyone except Texas schools, so I can understand how you feel. I was complete at the same time at 15 schools out of Texas, and am still in review at all of them. Good Luck, I am sure we'll hear more around Jan.

Okay, I'll quit my bitchin' now. Literally 5 minutes after posting this thread--and about a half hour after I called them to check my status--I got an e-mail invite from Mt. Sinai!! 😀 Thank you all for your support and encouragement, this process is so stressful that it really turns you into a neurotic mess. Now I can stress about preparing for my interview instead! Yay!

care to share which ones so maybe we too can call and find out our fate instead of waiting? i hate how schools are rude enough to not even let you know that youre rejected! jeez! we deserve at least that much!

sure, one was Tulane, the other one was...hmm, I think it was UVA? I'm not 100% on that second one. I distinctly remember Tulane though because the woman was actually really nice about it, almost apologetic. Plus, I really wanted Tulane so it stung a little more.
