Got a BU II this morning, but the earliest date is 10/29. I understand the importance of interviewing early, but is 10/29 too late to interview? Once you schedule, you can no longer see available dates, but I'm considering calling once or twice a week to see if there are any earlier openings.

Good idea? Or SDN neuroticism?

Do it, BU gave me an earlier II date when I asked. I changed almost all my interview to an earlier date. Most adcoms are pretty receptive to this.

I would say interview as early as you are prepared. If you're not properly prepared then push it back. Besides a month is not going to make a difference lol.

I think that as long as your interviewing before late November/ December you're pretty set

Actually for BU it does not matter too much. Under their system about 30-50% of their interviews are assigned for before the winter break. Of that pool, about 1/3 of the open spaces for the class are offered, the everyone else is either rejected or deferred. After the break the rest of the interviews are given out through march (I think, maybe a little later). Then all the newly interviewed people+deferred people from before are considered and the remaining class spots are assigned. While you may find out faster from BU if you interview early, there is very little advantage to be gained.

Also, in general you need to calm down. Any interview invite received before Thanksgiving is great, and I know tons of people at Tufts and other schools who interviewed after New UYears and got in.

I interviewed Feb. 15 at the school I am currently attending as an M1. =D

You're fine. Schedule earlier if you want (and can) by all means, but 10/29 is no worries whatsoever.

Lotta people don't even have interview invites yet, don't worry about it

Calling every week to see if slots are available when it's implied that they're unavailable is a bit over the top. Just go with the earliest date that's available.

This is honestly ridiculous. There are some applicants that will be attending medical school in the fall of 2013 that haven't even gotten their primary verified yet.

You need to take a break from SDN, for health benefits.

I interviewed in March/April when I applied in late Sept/early Oct at 3 schools (Rush, RFU, Midwestern). Waitlisted at Rush (ultimately rejected), waitlisted and then accepted at RFU and accepted at Midwestern. There is plenty of time left. I saw at least two people I interviewed with at RFU attending this fall.

LOL @ 10/29 being too late to interview.
BU is not a rolling admissions school so it doesn't matter as much. If you interview before the new year, then you'll get a decision in their first wave of admissions. Even if you interview later in the season, you can still get an acceptance in the second wave.

You're being neurotic.

June 2013.

Agreed. October is EARLY in the interview season.

:luck: Good luck at your interview.

Great, thanks everyone!

wtf you've been averaging over 30 posts a day since you signed up 9 months ago. Go to the park or something.

lol so true. but I can imagine some neurotic premed going to the park and just spending his time browsing sdn on his phone.

My job involves me sitting at a computer and doing next to nothing for 8 hours a day.

Reminds me of a post in mid July by yours truly directed towards you:

Can I ask you a question? You are accepted into an MD school for 2012 matriculation, right? Why the **** are you participating in these idiotic threads instead of going outside, drinking, seeing friends, traveling or whatever it is you actually enjoy doing? Disable your SDN account until maybe you need it for Step 1 or something. Enjoy your last summer man. Get the hell off SDN.

I have heard students getting interview and accepted really late around May..

Go on reddit. My favorite place to waste time at work. Or you can read a book perhaps.

Reddit is blocked. Ever since the whole jb fiasco the tech department thinks everything on reddit is nsfw. Also I work in a biohazard area so I'm not about to bring a book in there.
