Meaning how late can you submit it and it still be "submitted in a timely manner after receiving it"?

3-4 days? A week? 2 Weeks? 3 Weeks?

Rule of thumb I went by last year was 2-3 weeks. However, the sooner the better. Pre-writing is ideal, if you have the time and motivation.

This is honestly the most work-intensive part of the application process. Everyone's situation is different, and everyone has a different amount of free time, but it would definitely be worth your while to put every spare ounce of energy you have into prewriting any you haven't received yet and powering through any that you already have.

If you're submitting past the first week of September, you're likely late. If you submit by the first week of July, you're early. Anywhere else you're just normal.

There is no hard and fast rule. If you can submit them before September you are on time. Some will take you less time than others. The only school that reminded me to complete the secondary within 2 weeks was Case Western.

The sooner you can submit a quality product, the better, obviously.

Did you mean the first week of August? Don't many schools not release secondaries until mid-July? The first week is over, and I've only received ~8 so far.

Well after I do these 5 (Who knows how long its going to take to write 5 quality secondaries), I"m going to probably get flooded with a ton this week.

And I have other obligations as well.... sigh...

tried to do them within 2 weeks
not sure if there's an official deadline but i've heard of places having an unofficial cutoff

My advisors said two weeks after you receive the invitation they should be done. Also, they said to have them done before coming to school, which is the second week of August.
