Hi everyone,

My AACOMAS has been delayed more than I would like due to shadowing an rec letters, and I probably won't be able to submit it until mid-September. I am aware of the individual school deadlines, but does anyone know when it's considered too late to have a good chance of getting in?

Just for some background, my cGPA is 3.73, sGPA is 3.65 and MCAT is 30P (10/10/10). I have 2 years of volunteering in a hospital and clinic, 3 years of research, 2 years of tutoring/leading and some other things here and there.

Thank you in advance for advice!

Mid-September you'll still be fine. Pre-write as many secondary applications as you can. Good Luck

If DO is your true passion, then your scores will make you competitive even though you are past the "early" stages of the app cycle.

If MD is your passion, wait another year and apply early and broadly.

I'm confused. You haven't submitted your AACOMAS because you're waiting for LORs? You don't need those to submit and be verified.

I've shadowed with many MDs but not much with DOs. I feel that my application looks weak without more DO shadowing. What do you think? I know I don't need the LOR until secondaries though.

Not a smart move. You are already too late. You are not a contender if your hand is not on the table.

Submit your application like NOW. Then work on getting that D.O. shadowing/LOR. I only shadowed MDs and shadowed a D.O. after submitting my application. AZCOM interviewers didn't even know I had shadowed a D.O. until I mentioned it in the interview.

Thank you, that is great advice. I will submit today then and work on the shadowing/LOR in the next few weeks.

Thank you everyone for your responses and best of luck with whatever stage of the process you are at! 🙂

+1. You don't need the LORs until you send in secondaries.
