Hi,

I go to a private university and have a 4.0 science GPA, 3.95 cumulative, and a 39P on my MCATs. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I have any hope of receiving merit based scholarship to medical school, and which schools I should explore. I think my stats are good but my EC's are a little weak, so I'm not sure if that will stop me from getting any scholarships.

My EC's are:

  • Jazz band for 6 semesters

  • Organic chem research for 2 semesters

  • volunteering at local ER for 1 semester

  • 30 hours of observation in operating room

  • 30 hours of shadowing a vascular surgeon

  • privately tutoring middle school child in math

  • member of EMT corps for school, and the EMT corps scheduling officer (I make sure every shift has coverage)
  • employed as an EMT-B at a private ambulance company from June 1st 2011 to present
  • medical research into the drug propofol and its affect on the viability of livers for transplant for 1 summer
I'm also going to TA a class for a semester next year, and make sure to do more community service.

Thanks so much for reading this, and I really appreciate any input at all.
