I have a friend who claims he was guaranteed acceptance at one of the podiatry schools. All he would have to do is fill out the paperwork. Mind you.. he hasn't even taken the MCAT or DAT, and has not even applied for the fall 2007 class. I dont know much about the app process to podiatry school. I assume it is just as competitive as dental school (if not more). How likely is this? He is not the president's or dean's son, and he certainly does not come from money. I think he's full of it.. but he is adamant that he was told he's in. What makes it more suspicious is that he refuses to attend the school, saying that Temple is his 1st choice and he wants to weigh all of his options. Right now, he is trying to enroll in an online MPH program but really wants to pursue podiatry. Is it just me, or does this make no sense at all???

Your thoughts are appreciated..

Sounds kind of unlikely. Unfortunately, these things do happen, but usually you either need to have money or know someone. I was told by an MD friend that it happened more than once at the medical school that she attended. I was really surprised because I had mistakenly thought that buying/bribing your way into school was a thing of the past.

If he wants to do podiatry why is he getting his MHA? There are dual degree programs (Temple, Barry...I think some other schools too) DPM/MHA, DPM/MPH, and of course DPM/Phd.

Ask to see the letter that said he was accepted. He probably doesn't have one.

yeah I'm calling bull**** on that one.

May be that guy recieved a letter from some Pod school's recruiting office inviting him to explore Podiatry as a career or attend some open house or meet some counsellor regarding pre-reqs,etc. And i guess he thought since he recieved that letter, he is the only one special and later concluded that He is accepted.

Either it was a HUGE misunderstanding, or it is plain bull****. I'm leaning towards the latter. If he wants to stay in la-la land for a while, who I am to burst his clueless bubble?

Sounds ridiculous to me. Guaranteed acceptance w/o filling out the paper work first? Did he get this "acceptance" from some unaccredited diploma mill?
