Say, if someone has between 2-3 years of previous lab experience, when he/she begins workig at a new lab, about how long does it take before they give you your own project to work on? 6 months, 1 year,...? Etc
This is considering that the PI has funding and resources to give you a project.

Not only does the amount of experience you have matter but also how much extra funding the PI has.
 
Your level of involvement, personal commitment, availability of resources for a project, mentorship/guidance and etc. all play a role in deciding when you might get a project of your own.
