So I would really like to apply to pharm school THIS fall. I haven't started studying for the PCAT yet (but will immediately as soon as my books get here!! 🙂 ) I'm debating between the August and October exams. August would be better for applications, but October would give me more time to study.

I'm just wondering, how long (on average) did you guys spend studying?? And how well did you perform on the exams?

Good luck with apps!

edit: oops sorry didnt see somebody started the same thread like 2 hours ago!! my bad 🙁

The amount of studying varies from person to person depending how much you remember from your classes. If you remember a lot, you won't need to study as much. If you don't, it is going to take lots of time. I know that is pretty general but studying is an individual thing.

What you can do is purchase the Pearson's online exams and take one and see how you do. If it looks like you aren't going to need too much studying, take the exam in August and you can retake in October if you are unhappy with your scores. If you are going to need lots of time, then you can push it off to October but you will only get one shot at it unless some of your schools will accept the January exam.

I studies for ~ 3wks before my first pcat, and 2 wks for my second one... And my second pcat was 15 points higher than the first, go figure..

I took the August and October pcat's the year that I was applying to school... It was a bit stressful at times(working on apps, studying for school, and studying for pcat), but everything worked out in the end.. And I'm sure that the same will be true for you also.
