How long should an away rotation be?

If I'm interested in a program, how long should I rotate there for? Is 2 weeks enough or should I stick with 4?

Obviously doing 2 weeks will give me more time to rotate at other programs, but will it be enough to get to know the faculty? get a recommendation?

Also, when is the best time to do an away? Is september/october the latest?
