How long to get an interview or rejection

Dear SDN

I have finished secondaries for about six schools so far including Buffalo, UofPittsburgh, Mayo Clinic, Columbia University, Washington University and Albert Einstein

When can I expect to get an interview or rejection notice from these schools. I have been unable to find any information about this.

Since you submitted your secondary so early...I would say an interview anytime from now until January. And a formal rejection letter most likely not until March or April. These things take time and they have a lot of applications to read through. Your best chance for an interview invite is now in the early season, if not, they most likely placed your application in another pool that they will go over if they need to invite more applicants somewhere down the line. They'll keep you there until they know for sure that they won't invite you...at which point they'll send you the rejection letter. This usually happens very late in the application cycle.

Really, though, nobody will be able to tell you. Interviews come between now and April, and rejections usually come after that. Some schools will reject earlier. Mayo is one of them.

And Buffalo is one of those that might not invite you for interviews until late late in the cycle. I applied early and wasn't invited until March, and there were other people who applied the very first day and wasn't invited until the last day of application review.... It all depends.

Einstein is like that too. I completed my secondary last year in September and didn't hear a single thing from them until late May when I was mailed a rejection letter.

When is the absolute earliest an interview invite at this point in the cycle? What I hear from people is usually August?

*edit: i just got my answer...I looked at the interview invite thread for last year's cycle*...it depends, but most do seem to come late july early august...assuming you're this early in the cycle.

Some schools never reject you formally. They keep you hanging forever. it's safe to say that if the first day of class has begun, you've probably received a "silent rejection" from a given school.
