How long to switch surgical field?

Wondering how long it would take to switch from ENT to Cardiothoracic or Vascular surgery? Would it just be the standard 2-3 year fellowship length?

are you an ENT resident? I am just intrigued to know why you want the switch

Depends on the circumstances. The absolute minimum would be 3 years. In order to do that, someone would need to transfer into an integrated vascular surgery program with PGY3 standing having their 2+ years of ENT counting as 24 months toward their graduation requirements for vascular surgery. But, that depends on a) an IVS program having an open PGY3 spot, b) that program wanting to fill it with a former ENT trainee, c) the ENT having more than 24 months worth of rotations that could be counted toward their graduation.

Realistically, 5 years would be the real minimum. If you can find an i6 cardiac program or an IVS program, maybe you could get it down to 4 years, but if you couldn't and had to go GS first, you are talking 5+ years.

That is not an easy switch. It's not like being a PA where you can just switch from one specialty to another. You're looking at a pretty significant chunk of time and energy to switch horses mid-stream.
