So I emailed a prof about a reference letter last week and he has not gotten back to me yet (it was to schedule a meeting). How long would you guys wait until emailing him again (the same email possibly?). It's exam time and it might as well be stuck beneath hundreds of other emails and I don't want to be pushy, but I'd like to get a response.

Anyone have a similar experience with thoughts to share?

Also, I know that referees must include the AMCAS ID on their reference letters... I was wondering if AMCAS ID = AAMC ID provided when I signed up for the MCAT? (Considering AMCAS does not open for another few weeks)

Thanks!

yes AMCAS # does = AAMC number as they are all a single organization.

I would wait another week. You don't need it now, anyway.

If you see this professor in class or somewhere randomly, I think it's ok to ask him if he has received an e-mail from you and if he says no, then just tell that you sent it a while ago and its about a ROC.

If you don't see him, then wait for another week, and send him a different e-mail.

you could wait another week. BUT...if you are feeling impatient...you could always email them again and say something along the lines of "I never got a response from your last email, so I was concerned you may have missed it." When I didn't get a response from a professor once, it was for this reason. Good luck 🙂

Depends how much of a hurry you're in. You can shoot him an email, go ahead and suggest a date (AFTER the exam crunch), and ask if that's an ok time or if another time is better. In your email program request a read receipt so you'll know if he got it or not.

I was wondering if your school has a pre-medical committee. At my undergrad, it is arranged that if you want to apply to medical school and want the school to recommend you, there is an application that we need to fill out by a certain date in late March. The application for a LOR is built similar to the AMCAS. In addition to the committee packet, we are also required to get individual letter of recommendations from profs that have had us (2 sci, 1 non-sci, and any other supervisors). If you have such committee, there should have been a date to get your LOR in. Otherwise, kindly but assertively tell your prof that med school admissions is rolling and that it is imperative to get the LOR's in ASAP.

hahahaha same situation here. i couldn't stand for more than 4 days so i asked another person to write it for me! I am not in a hurry but i don't like sending e-mails and not getting any respond but that's only me.
