How many aways to apply to?

Just a succinct, practical question. How many aways to apply to in order to guarantee having an away rotation this July?

I actually only applied to one away rotation. I probably should have done more just in case. I would pick two or three to apply to. Some programs charge you money to apply, but others don't. Maybe pick one you really want to go to and find some others that are free.
