The limit is 5300, so how many characters do/did you have?

How many is typical?

Well my parents aren't doctors and I don't want to rely on my premed advisor, so I want to make the most of this forum during application season.

Well my parents aren't doctors and I don't want to rely on my premed advisor, so I want to make the most of this forum during application season.

My parents aren't doctors either. And the character count means absolutely nothing- it's the quality that counts. An adcom won't appreciate someone rambling just because most other pre-meds have 5300 characters and they don't want something so short that it doesn't really give a comprehensive image of you.
