I'm planning on taking statistics, ethics, and world lit.---9 hrs. These classes last all summer so it's not 1/2 summer classes. How many hrs. do y'all suggest taking during the summer? Should I add another class? If I take these classes, I'll have the required 20 hrs at the school thus, I'll be able to get my AA degree---for whatever it's worth.

Hey Colt, I just wanted to reply to your question because I have taken some classes during a couple different summer semesters. I am married and my wife and I work 40 hours a week so I HAD to take summer courses or else I would be in school forever! The summer semesters at my old school were only 10 weeks long, compared to the 16 weeks that we were used to.

The first summer I took Physical Antrhopology, U.S. History, Algebra, and Interpersonal Communication. This came out to be 13 hours. This semester was a little hectic, but I ended up doing well.

The second semester, I took Trig and Spanish II which was 8 hours. At the end of this semester I received my Associate of Science.

I am now at a 4 year university and the summer semester is run completely different. I will only be able to take one course this coming summer, which I am bummed about. I guess they didn't want any more of my money...

Anyways, I really think it should be up to you to decide. Take the following into consideration: how many hours you work, if you are married or dating, how much home work you can handle, and how much free time you desire.

For me, cramming the same amount of info into a shorter time period didn't really make a difference. All that really happened was that we were taking tests more often.

The only downfall, the lectures are longer...I get bored and distracted easily.

Good luck with whatever you choose and have fun in statistics! hehe

depending on the school, i think you could handle another class. i took 14 credits one summer...2 classes the first session and 2 the next. for each session, i took a science course at my school and an online community college course at the same time because they are much cheaper. it was a pretty easy load. those courses sound easy, so id prob throw in that last course to finish the degree if i were you. because your summer session is all summer, its about the same length as a regular semester, and you prob take 5 courses at a time then, so why not have 4 in the summer?

Summer classes are the best! The teachers don't want to be there as bad as you do. I've had summer classes were they will drop off a test or some other perk. Sure the info is packed in, but you are in class like half the time you would be in a regular semester class. I took 12 hours last summer and it was no problem. Many people take the summers off to work or for a break. In my opinion you should never miss the chance at summer classes, if you need a break take the fall or spring off instead.
