what do you mean?

He means there isn't a point in putting down multiple deposits. You have time to figure out which school to pick, putting down multiple deposits isn't going to do anything other than slow the process down for other people.

agreed

Anyone know what the Tufts deposit is off the top of their head? Or from personal experience

I had to put down 2.

The registrar at my first choice hasn't verified our instate/ out of state yet so since I've done my fair share of moving and don't know whether or not I'll be counted for instate or not, I had to put in a 2nd one in order to avoid paying 80K extra over 4 years in out of state tuition :-(

I would understand 2 deposits but not any more. Say someone gets into a school on Dec.1 but interviewed at their instate/first choice after dec.1. Then you wouldn't find out if you were accepted until after the first deposit is due. So you have to put down a deposit and wait.

I got in my top choice...so only one

One for now, but I would've put down two if the other school wasn't prohibitively expensive for me (OOS tuition). If I get any more acceptances I plan on putting down more. A drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things.

2 so far and 3 if I get into my top choice (interviewed there just after Dec 1)

Second choice is super expensive, so will only go there if I get HPSP and won't find that out until late Feb. Put down a deposit at my third choice because I'll have to go there if I don't get the scholarship and the deposit was only 60 bucks anyway!

And Tufts deposit is $1500 but $300 is refundable before June.

Thanks guys. I am going to put down 2 deposits and Tufts is not one of them. I will still have to interview there, be accepted, and love it when I visit to put down a deposit there (unlikely). I am really just going because I haven't been to Boston in a while 😛

I put down 2 deposits only because I was accepted somewhere on Dec 1st and didn't interview at my top choice till after Dec 1st. Since I got waitlisted at my top school, sending in the first deposit was smart; however, I was just pulled in off the waitlist at my #1. Total deposit amounts comes to $1700 for both schools.

So expensive :/ Hopefully worth it in the grand scheme of things!

You're telling me.. worst part is I am out 1,000 of that since the one school has no refund amount should you decide to withdraw.. oh well it took me three chances to get in so on the bright side I am in haha.

Wow congrats!!! That is good news! I'd pay anything to be in after that many cycles.

There's nothing you could've done. If I was in the same situation, I'd pay both deposits too. Too risky to not put deposit down on the guaranteed acceptance. Congrats on getting off the wait list for your top choice though.

I did the same thing as you. Deposit #1 = Pitt (In December)
Deposit #2 = Penn (Today)

I will wait for the HPSP news before I make a final choice. Hopefully I find out within a month.
