hey guys...
i'm feeling behind in this process... how many of you guys have your letters of rec in? mine still won't be in for awhile... i'm not THAT behidn am i?

hoping,

I finished most of my secondaries, but I am just now sending in my LOR's. So I don't think you should be worried; in fact, I think that if you can get everything in by mid september, there's nothing for you to really be worried about. However, get those secondaries in; let the LOR's be the limiting factor, and not laziness on your part! 🙂

Just a bit of info about my situation, I had all five of my LORs in my career center like in June, and many schools still haven't received them or entered them into their database, apparently this takes at least 2-3 weeks to happen after I request them to be sent. So, in order for your file to be complete before the end of September, you need to get these together ASAP.

Yeah, I hear ya!

I had my Premed Committee Evaluation Interview in early June. The letter still hasn't gotten out yet. This is driving me absolutely nuts. The advisor responsible for mailing keeps telling me crap (lies?) about when they'll go out. I first heard they would be out in mid-July, then September, then August, then last week she said they'd be out on Monday, then Tuesday, now I have no idea. But my Northwestern deadline is Monday, and it still hasn't gotten out yet. But she seems confident that it will make it in time. I do not understand this. How can it possibly get there on time if she hasn't sent it yet? The US Postal System is very erratic, it's taken five days for a letter to get across town before. Imagine what could happen between Norman and Chicago...Ack! Can you tell I'm freaking out? But she says she's "Never missed a deadline before." Looks like I'll be the first. 😡 😡 😡

I've lost all faith in the US postal service.

Its making this process so much more stressful, I wish I had more control/ ways to monitor my mail....

thanks for the replies guys. let's all hope the letters will be ready soon and snail mail will be kind to us!

Last year I had a horror story of a time with my LORs and getting my school to mail them out properly. Some schools didn't even end up with them till after their deadlines. I am really happy that this year they have a new woman working in that dept and they now have a wait of only two days for letters to be mailed out.

Hi there,

We Canadians tend to feel a tad disadvantaged due to the lack of a premedical advisory committee at all Canadian universities. 🙁 That's where those fabbo recommendations on this board to use Interfolio.com, etc., come in handy for us. What a service! I was sceptical at first, never having used anything akin to this before. My letter writers, too, felt similar. Most of them had never heard of such a deal, but they were extremely pleased with it, i.e., being able to electronically submit one letter.

If anyone has no premed advisory option, I'd highly recommend this route. Once your letters arrive, the company automatically sends you an alert to give you the heads up. All the letters are stored in your own portfolio, so when you need to arrange a delivery, you do so over the web-based system. You can then specify delivery mode, and these include a couple of traceable, next-day options. Thanks to this, my nightmare of asking a bunch of writers for 30-odd letters, and following-up on each has turned into something grotesquely simple.

By the way, I mentioned this on another thread somewhere, but there are a few schools out there who are zippily confirming receipt of letters, i.e., on the same day of arrival (and thus, receipt of a completed application, ready for review). These include: Baylor, Dartmouth, Georgetown, U. Penn and Cornell. Others such as Yale, Hopkins, USC, Saint Louis, Tulane, U. Conn and Pritzker seem to be taking a bit longer.

Cheers,
Kirsteen

I envy who ever has their letters in already🙁 my school says it will be 3-4 weeks processing time. How many secondaries have you guys gotten in? I got the first 7 in really fast (cuz i was excited) and haven't done one in about a week and a half.. JUST DONT WANA!!!!! SICK OF TELLING THEM WHY I AM SO GOOD and WHY THEY SHOULD TAKE ME!!!!! but i have 7 more to go.. offcourse being lazy i saved the toughest (and the most in number) of essays for later. so these last 7 are gona kill.

can somebody please post the URL (along with a username/password) for Cornell's secondary?
