love the username/avatar!!

do you go to class?

yea that's on top of class and lab time, although some classes I just watch via our online system.

I found note cards to be really helpful during second year when we studied the clinical stuff. Note cards for me are most helpful when you can write down very specific, directed questions for example, what are the side effects of ACE inhibitors? I found the subject material of first year to be not-so-amenable for putting on note cards. But then again, some of first year could be well studied with note cards. They can take a while to write (but I think you learn through writing them as well), but note cards can be really really useful!

you dont have to necessarily write note cards. You can write on any piece of paper

To those who have stopped going to lecture:

What made you make the change? Did you do the same thing in undergrad? Do you have any concern you may miss something that was pointed out in lecture? I'm starting med school next fall, and I'm trying to get a good picture of how medical students study.

Also, some medical students have told me that during their first year, they stuck mostly to the lecture notes (or powerpoints) and they did just fine. For all of you in the high percentile, is that what you did?

most lectures pretty much regurgitate what is on your notes. If you learn better by reading, I guess you don't need to attend lectures. I, however, attend lectures to reinforce and to hear what I had read the day before. Hearing helps things stick in my head longer and more often, so...
