How many interviews does an average interviewee get?

For those with at least one interview, what is the average total number?

Question: for those that get interviews, what is the average number of interviews that they get during an interview cycle? We are not counting those who do not get any interviews. Chances are, unless you're extremely borderline, if one school likes you, other schools will like you as well.

I think the average school makes 2x the offer of invitation than the spots they have? That means an average of 36000 acceptances are offered for 18000 seats, so an average of about 2 acceptances per person?

This poll should really be done as a percentage of interview invites out of the total number of schools applied to.

I was invited to 70% of the schools I applied to.

Well the average applicant applies to something like ~13 schools I think.

Are you looking for the average number of interviews for everyone, or just people on SDN? because those are two different numbers.
I think people would be surprised at how few interviews people really get, because we tend to get the overachievers on SDN, and therefore, the number of interviews/person is higher (or people lie 😛).

I submitted my primary and 2ndary pretty much as soon as humanly possible and did not hear anything for a while. In the past 2 weeks, I heard of FIVE interviews. Still catching my breath from all the excitement.

30% of the schools that I have completed a secondary too have already invited me to an interview. I am way more than 2 for every ten-15 schools applied to. I'm still in shock that I have so many. Here's to hoping I get a few acceptances 🙂

Hmm, for everyone. So if there are ~18,000 spots, that would mean schools send out ~36,000 acceptances, so assuming an average acceptance rate of about 50%, you'd think the interview season consists of about ~72,000 interviews. Assuming slightly less than 50,000 applicants, that would mean 1.5 interviews per applicant, and ~4 interviews per applicant who has at least one interview. Does the math sound about right?

Wow, that's amazing. Right now I'm at 10% 😛.

I know! 😀 I got alot of help from SDN and applied to a good chunk of schools in my reach (as well as some not so much in my reach). I also learning about DO schools and the new MD programs via SDN. I am always thankful for this forum every time I get an invite.
