Here's an example from a top peds program - I would guess that there will be few programs, in an specialty, that will be this communicative and open about their process:
We will begin our review of applications by faculty reviewers in about the 3rd week of September to give time for more ERAS materials to be added to your file before it goes to a reviewer. The minimum items required for a file to be reviewed are:
1) a completed ERAS Common Application Form
2) a Personal Statement
3) a Medical School Transcript
4) a USMLE and/or COMLEX (for Osteopathic school applicants) score report (at
least one score)
When there are letters of recommendation or other information in your ERAS file, we will also review those. As soon as we have a decision on your application, we will then contact you to schedule an interview. We will make one of 3 decisions about a reviewed application: "Yes", invite for an interview; "No", do not offer an interview; or "Hold" for further review when the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (the Deans Letter) comes on November 1st.
