studied for 2 weeks or LESS for your MCAT. because thats something im about to do....lol.
And if you did..what was ur starting (practice) score and what was your real mcat score?
How did you study? Which books did you use and how many practice tests did you take? etc

ive been studying for the past 5 days and i have 4 more days before my mcat....lol
i know im crazy. but ive been putting in about 12 hours each day 🙂 literally
so I need some stories to motivate me plzzzzz

well its too late to change the date now. I was taking physics + lab so was busy with classes and work. I just got done last week so started right away. so far im doing horrible. got a 21 on aamc 3 🙁
i mean its only my first mcat i know im gonna end up re taking it but i still wanna do the best i can...25+ atlest

You SHOULD NEVER take this exam KNOWING you're gonna retake it... If that is the honest truth... Don't waste your time. You'll just look worse to med schools having that old lower grade. Just take it when you're supposed to take it and do good the first time! not trying to be mean... just saying. Why would you take it when you know you're not ready? that doesn't make any sense to me

I recommend that you reschedule it. I took it last July with about a week and a half of study. My circumstances were quite similar to your own. I scored 25R with only a 7 in verbal. Granted, that's not a terrible score, but I can do better. The failure was demoralizing even though I know it was entirely my fault. If you aren't a natural with verbal or the testing style in general, you're going to need more time to study for it than 2 weeks.

Verbal is consistently by best score. I have a 7 right now. I can improve to ATLEAST an 8 in 4-5 days. My problem is mostly Biology/orgo...n then PS.

and i CANNOT reschedule it! its too late.
and this thread is supposed to motivate me...since i AM taking it this week no matter what. i have to. so mite as well give it my best shot 🙂

this is a terrible attitude.. then you shouldn't even bother taking it. would you go skydiving KNOWING your parachute is going to fail?

sorry i'm being a negative nancy, but we all have your best interest at heart. i promise.

If your science GPA is less than a 3.0 as you posted in a previous thread, scoring in the 20s on your MCAT will be allopathic suicide. Not only that, it's quite late in the cycle already (I don't know if you've submitted the AMCAS yet). You should apply next year. Take the test for practice and void it at the end. The AAMCs are a very good gauge of how well you'll do on the actual test (by about +/- 5 points or so). If you scored a 21 and were taking it seriously, this is a bad sign. It's obviously up to you whether to take the test or not, but you probably aren't going to hear a lot of stories from people in your situation, because improving your score from mid 20s to low 30s does NOT happen in one week.

my science gpa is like 3.1...did i really say it was less than 3? weird...
ohh it probably is less than 3 according to AMCAS but according to AACOMAS its like 3.1..and overall is like 3.3ish
i wasnt gonna apply allopathic anyways...i was thinking of applying DO only by end of aug
if i dont get atleast a 25..im NOT applying DO this year...if i end up with 25 or above..i might apply since its not THAT bad for osteo schools 🙂
scoring 21 a week before mcat is DEF crazy if ur applying allo..but thats not wat i had in mind 🙂

I'd still wait if I were you so that I'd have the strongest application possible for D.O. schools. Again, it's up to you and best of luck, but I think the consensus is that more preparation is -highly- recommended. Not to be discouraging, but with so little studying so far, there's a chance that you could do worse than your AAMC scores if you haven't taken enough tests to see if you are consistent or not. It's a risk.

Hi Laiba.. On page 10 of the 30+ study method thread, there is a post by a guy named LoveWalk who studied like 12 days and ended up with a super score. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=503250&page=10

Check that out for motivation

Anyways, I wish you all the best for your MCAT...

Btw, what is the connection between Aishwarya Rai and Laiba (whats that?)

The same connection thats between Paresh Rawal and Baboo Bhaiya 🙂

Thanks 🙂 I've actually gone through the whole thread many times before 🙂

Cases like LoveWalk are EXTREMELY rare. For the vast majority of test takers, anything less than 2 months will result in a horrible score. Taking the MCAT with only 2 weeks prep is giving the AAMC your money along with having a tougher time getting into a DO or MD program.

Hey man that is a great score. I know so many people that takes it without studying you will have no problem getting at least a 30 on the real test. Just make sure you take it on August 21st.

Thx GL

Are you applying this year? If not, ditch the mcat date you have right now. You wont get that 250 back anyway, and there's no point going in with 2 weeks of studying. 21 is a good starting score to build upon though. If you study right now, you could take the january mcat.

No, you're not funny. And 4 days from now is NOT aug 21 🙂

LastPolarBear: Like i said, im still debating. i know im late in the cycle. I dont HAVE to apply this year...i can wait 🙂 Thanks...i know 21 is not that bad of a starting score. Since im applying to DO schools only im not really aiming for a 32+. Avg is 26-27 for DO and i;d be happy if i get something like that on my first mcat
