I know you can apply to dental school before all of your prereqs are completed, but I was just curious how many prereqs you should finish before you apply.

For instance, by June of next year I will have finished most of my Bio/Chem/Ochem series and one physics class--is this enough to apply that cycle? I'm a non-traditional student who already had a Bachelors. Any advice would be appreciated!

(And if there is a similar thread, please link me to it--I searched I promise)

probably like 75% but 100% would be ideal to be the most competitive applicant. realize that if you are not a science major that most science majors applying already have all their prereq's finished and that could delay your app.

Hello to Ballard from West Seattle. Is it hot up there, too?

If you'll have all of the prerequisites done by matriculation, you should be good. Non-traditional students may even be at an advantage because the info is still fresh in our minds when we take the DAT (without the clutter of what we've learned in American Popular Culture and Song).

Haha hello West Seattle--yes, I'm melting. And it's supposed to be 100 tomorrow! Yikes. (Cue all the people from AZ rolling their eyes).

Yes, as you've all guessed I didn't take any science prereqs in college--if only I'd had the foresight haha. But I'm taking a full load of lab sciences for the next...oh, about 7 years (just kidding) and should have a good handle on them by June of next year, and have them fully completed way before matriculation.

Thanks for all the great advice :)
