I'm just curious as to how many real doctors give advice to pre-meds on here. I always found this site useful many years ago. But I'll be an attending in a couple months 🙂

Incidentally, of course I'm willing to give advice, but my knowledge of the application process is likely out of date.

He has a lot more than that until he gets licensed.
Starting ~July 1, he'll be practicing as a physician under institutional licensure until he completes PGY-1 and Step 3 (requirements might vary by state) and applies for an individual license. Let's be liberal and decide that he still counts. Since he's been helpful. 😉

Alas, I'm a PhD...phony doctor.
Nonsense. There's a reason why medical school is considered to be an undergraduate education as opposed to grad school. I still consider my PhD to be my highest degree, not my MD. 🙂

@DokterMom, if she hasn't been mentioned already. She's a great lady. 🙂

The last I checked, Nick Naylor is finishing up MS4 now, so he should adhere to this thread's definition of a real doctor pretty soon.

makes sense, so I figure internship/residency/fellowship is "grad school", the patients you treat all those years become "research and learning", and the Board certification become the "PhD" dissertation and title

Now, should we only trust the advice given by physicians who have the physician badge? :thinking:

Y'all just reminded me that I'm gonna be a "real doctor" in T minus 35 days! :wow:
