How many schools are you guys applying to? What's the norm?

I'm applying to the two in my state and I went through the list of all the other schools and I'm really wanting to apply to all the schools whos requirments I meet to improve my odds (that would be about 15). Am I crazy? 😉 I want to do whatever I can to get in. The total fee was pretty high ($715) but money isn't really that big of an issue for me since I already have a bachelors degree and working full time at a decent job. Is there even a limit on pharmcas? I didn't see anything about it.

I think the limit is 14 schools.

I am applying to 4 non-pharmCAS schools.

I made the mistake in years past of only applying to the schools in my state and I did not get in. SO this year I am applying to about 15... because I really want to be a pharmacist. And moving my family across the country is worth it for us - if I will reach my dream career.

if money is not an issue DO IT. But only apply to the ones you really would be willing to go to, otherwise it would be a true waste of money. Good Luck!

I just applied to 3, mostly in deference to the fact that my wife's also applying to law school in the same areas, and if push comes to shove her school takes priority we've decided.

I beg to differ. LOL I am applying to 16 schools, only one of which is not through PharmCAS. I applied to 7 schools at the end of August and then applied to 8 more about a month later. I know it's crazy and I have spent SO much money on applications, but I have a pretty low GPA/ PCAT (pending my new October results) so I had to apply to as many as I could thinking that SOME school would accept me. =)

I applied ED to a school, but if I don't get in (I find out in a couple days), I'm going to apply to 2-3 more.

I don't think there is a limit of 14 for pharmcas. I think the payment options lists it as 14 or more. Maybe the PCAT had a limit of 14 schols they would send it to, but if you are applying to mostly pharmcas schools then you would just send the scores to pharmcas and that would not be a problem

I am applying to 3 different schools. UB, St John Fisher, and D'youville if they actually get their program off the ground.

1 school for me and was accepted.

Somewhere between 6-8... all the schools I want to go to have early deadlines, so I'll apply there first. If I get rejected or don't hear back early enough, then I'll also submit my application to a few more schools as backup.

Jeez, 14 schools 😱 That's a lot of money
I'm applying to two.

I've applied to 6 so far, to the ones that have rolling admission, and then if I need to apply to the ones with regular admission, I'll put those through PharmCAS in December or something...

I did the same thing as someone else mentioned, I only applied to the ones around the area which I live, which I recieved no acceptance.

i applied to UF, UNC, and UTenn. one interview so far...

The more you apply to the greater the odds. I'm at lucky number slevin/7. 14 to 16 is more than enough. Do you have a top 3 or 5?

Like I said, I think. But that is kinda outrageous. If I had the money then hell I would too.

4 or 5 should be plenty. You don't want to look too desperate. LOL...

I applied last year to that many, in the end once the fall semester started and I was busy with PCAT/PCAT Kaplan course + taking classes, I had absolutely no time to fill out all supps.Once I started getting interviews from the schools higher on my priority list, I ended up comepletely not filling out 4 or even 5 supps for schools I ranked lower, meaning only submitted pharmcas but not their additional required paperwork. That was money well spent. 😎

Just reading these threads and noticed your post. Don't be fooled. Pharmacists earn substantially more than lawyers unless the lawyer attends a top 10 school and lands a BigLaw Firm job. Plus you still need to be able to pass the Bar exam. California Bar exam is the Hardest in the country.

Might want to reconsider. Just my ,02. Good luck either way.

I'm applying to 9 schools.

LECOM: working on supp
Pitt: completed
UMD: completed
UNC: completed
UCSD: completed
U of Mich: working on supp
VCU: interview 11/14
Midwestern: completed
Thomas Jefferson: invited for interview, need to schedule

hey i'm just e-submitting my Pharmcas today. i am planning to apply to about at least 15 schools. do you think i have any chances at all?? i know i'm soo late in submitting my PHarmcas =(

ok, I'm freaking out now. I haven't submited by pharmCAS yet with the $700 payment but I was looking at the supplement stuff and it seems like you have to pay a second fee with the supplement materials?? So really I would be paying much more than $700? Do all/most schools do this?

You will need to pay btw $50 to $100 dollars per school AGAIN for supplemental fees. Some schools charge $50, some charge $75 and some charge $100.

What you really need to do is cut down. Applying to that many schools is insane. I think 4 to 5 schools is more than enough. Apply to your state school, and 3 to 4 private schools is your best bet.

👍

I have read that Pharmcas allows a maximum of 14, 15 , and 16 applications.

So what is the real number?

14, 15, 16...They're all real numbers

However, I don't believe there is a limit. I'm at 11 schools now, and will slowly get to 18 if I don't hear back soon.

i applied to 5. but hampton, has accreditation issues to say the very "LEAST" and then there was 4...😉

best of luck! everybody...:luck:

Reality is with most schools fees and shipping charges you'd be paying at least twice that amount. I think I spent about 1600 last year.

6...which might turn into 5...i'm reconsidering Purdue due to financial reasons...

I applied to 7 which I think is a good number. All are in california except one in oregon. Since I'm not taking the PCAT I didn't want to limit myself. But to anyone who is considering applying to a bunch of school remember that you still need to complete all the supplementals which is very time consuming. Each has separate essays which you can't really recycle. So make sure you have the time (and money) to complete all of them on time ;D
