3.21 science, 3.46 overall, 3.36 BCP, taking the DATs in August. Right now, I applied to 10 schools, and I'm panicking a little. How many schools should I have on my list?

This is my current list, feel free to make suggestions to add to the list if necessary.

RU
NYU
BU
Tufts
Pitt
LECOM
NOVA
UNE
Western
USC

Are any of the following schools out of state friendly?

Louisville
Creighton
Roseman
VCU

Creighton is private, so yes they are OOS friendly. Can't speak to the others with certainty. My advice on "is this enough schools" is if you can afford 20 schools, apply to 20 schools. If you can't, then you will be good with 10+. Make sure to have a nice mix of private schools and don't spend too much time applying to state schools, especially if you're OOS. Look at Nova, case western, marquette, and both midwestern IL/midwestern AZ

What's the difference between the stats of the two Midwesterns?

Well I would think there would be a level of favoritism towards people in either the west or midwest areas but I may be wrong. Otherwise, they are both new and they both have very similar acceptance stats.

So they are all OOS friendly?

If by all you mean the ones I listed, yes. They are private and OOS friendly. Midwesterns are both private so they are OOS friendly.

So with my stats, should I add to my list, or keep it at 10?

Hard I say without the dat. I would say add them. If you can afford it...your GPA is a wee bit below averages (although it is still solid) but it can't hurt to add a couple private schools.

Relax take the dat. If you do good add some more.

If you flunk, then you just spent $1500+ just for the ride.

Any chance you have it and you can tell me the stats of Louisville, Roseman, VCU, and Midwestern AZ/IL in terms of OOS friendliness? I've been reading different things in different threads.

Don't be cheap.

What are you going to do in your dental office, dry the used cotton rolls?

I can understand where she's coming from though. Most people are in the middle ground where theyre REALLY tight on money but no reason to unnecessarily money at TX schools from OOS. Plus, running a dental clinic is different from applying as a student.

I'll add schools if I have to, but do you think I have a decent chance of getting into any on the schools I have on my current list of 10?
I can't really see myself attending Louisville, Creighton, Roseman, or VCU, but I will add them if necessary. I feel that the stats that they want are around the stats of the schools I have on my top 10 list, so I'm not exactly sure how much good it would do to apply to four more if they all have similar requirements to my top 10, you know what I mean?

I woulda went with 15-20 schools total.

Thanks, guys. So with my stats, would it be a good idea to add
Louisville
Creighton
Roseman
VCU
UoP
?
Or do one of those schools not fit with my stats/anyone have any better ideas?

I wouldn't add any more schools until you take the DAT.

There's a LARGE chance that schools aren't going to look at your application until they have your scores. If you do AWESOME, you might not need to add any more. However, if things go south... It might be a waste of money to add more.

If you do average, add 4-5 more.

For now, though, don't spend the money. Just wait. Adding more at this point won't accomplish anything.

Thanks, Glimmer. My fear is that I would be sending it out super late, since I'm taking my DATs on Aug 18. Should I still wait to add schools?

It won't make a difference.

The concept of submitting early is essentially null if schools don't have everything. You likely won't even be looked at until your scores are in.

Essentially, it wouldn't make any difference of you applied on the very first day in June or the week your DAT scores come in. Schools have no reason to look until your scores are available.

You will be squeaking in with a late August or early September submission. Do well on your DAT and make the later submission worth it. I would mainly expect post-December interviews unless you blow the top off of it, but there might be a few pre-Decembers! Interview slots just seem to fill up fast for a lot of schools.

Don't add any more now. Just wait and see what you need to do. 🙂

Alrighty, thanks! Also, I fear that I may have made a terrible error. I didn't add planned courses, because I didn't think that I was going to get special permission numbers since the class filled up before I could register. Since I submitted already, I can't go back and change it to add courses. I emailed all the schools I applied to to notify them of the courses I plan to take, but do you think this will hurt me a lot? :nailbiting:

I'd definitely do roseman and maybe even add loma Linda if you can get a religious leader lor.
