Hi,

I was wondering how many schools to apply to?

My stats are pretty strong: 3.78GPA /31R MCAT and I go to UCLA.

Thanks

Depends how loaded you are 🙂

Just don't apply only to Cali schools. I would say 10-15 would be more than enough. As long as you use the rule of some "dream", some "likely", and some "backup" schools.

Just remember it is better to apply to too many than too few.

Good luck.

I just wanted to add that you should apply to as many schools as possible. I had a 3.4 GPA, 34 MCAT, and I was a biochemer at UPENN. Unlike you, I knew that my stats were weak because of the GPA...and it's a good thing I applied to 33 schools. I got 5 interviews (Finch, NYMC, MCP, Temple, USC). I'm living in Philly now, but I'm a CA resident...none of the UCs even gave me an interview. I've gotten acceptances from Finch, NYMC, and finally USC today...off of the waitlist. I can tell you that it was really expensive...with a full time job, I still thought the costs were excessive. About $1300 in AMCAS, and average of $40-$100 each for secondaries....most were at the higher end.
