Hi, I just wanted to get other people's opinions on their course load per semester. I was told by my advisor that I must take 14 to 16 credits a semester with 2 of my classes being science/math, 2 being lab classes, and 2 elective courses in order to be competitive for med school. I just read differently so I wanted to know if this is true? That's what I've been mostly following for the past 2 years except for one semester where I only did half time because of covid. Will the halftime look poorly on my future applications? Right now for this semester, I'm taking Cell biology, cell biology lab, genetics, civics, and professional writing which puts me at 13 credit hours if that's a good course load. I'm debating whether I should follow what my advisor said and add the genetics lab but I feel like my course load this semester might be too time-consuming without it anyways.
