Received 13, submitted 5, 2 more ready to go out tonight/tomorrow morning. The sappiness level of these things is starting to reach an all-time high.

I'm kind of at a dry spell right now though...I was really busy like 2 weeks ago, but not so much anymore. The last 4 schools I haven't heard from all have essays I think, so I expect to be busier once I receive these.

I'm slowly waiting for August when interview invites start going out...

I just did FIVE tonight and I think I'm definitely a bit burnt out. Hope I don't get anymore until next week.... I've now gotten 16 out of 17 out of the way. I'm tempted to push it and knock out the last one on my plate right now. But if I have to write one more essay on why THEIR school is THE school I may lose my mind. It gets depressing to see all of these web sites, get all excited about the great opportunities, but know that the odds are most of these places are going to send rejection letters in response to my fervent essays. Crap shoot shmap shoot. Or maybe that's just the burn out talking.

Well, according to the MCAT, writing is something I can actually do. Only spent about 12 minutes on each MCAT essay to get an S. But I cheated a little last night on my secondaries. I had pre-written 3, so I only had to proofread those. I also wrote 9 more, but sometimes used one essay as a jumping off point to create another. Also, some, like SLU and NYU were pretty quick. Nevertheless, I'm glad those are finished.

I'm NOT looking forward to the Rush, Loyola or Northwestern secondaries. From what I've heard, those are really essay heavy and hard to reuse/modify other essays to fit them. I'm trying to get a jump-start on Loyola even though I haven't gotten the screened secondary yet.

Loyola's asks you to limit your responses to 25 lines of text or so. That's not too terribly bad. The questions are pretty basic and they, kindly, say they understand the burdens of secondaries and respect short answers.

I wanted to submit primaries 6/15 or so and then take off to Europe for all of July... but now I'm thinking this won't be such a great idea. Any advice? Could I feasibly complete any before I leave (looking at old promps and such) to save me from having to do them while I'm there? Otherwise, when is the best time to vacation in Europe for a month throughout this whole process?? I'm doing a master's program so I kind of have to limit it to summers :/
