hey, i know they say that there is no stopping when you have your heart set on your dream, but I mean, started to have second thoughts. but i was just wondering how many times this forum has tried to get in. I remember I was taking a TPR class with a guy that was going through his 3rd cycle. just taking a quick poll!

This is my 3rd time applying. Although, the first time I had one interview at an Ivy League school where my stepmother counts, I don't completely count it. I have decided, however, that this is the last time. This process has made me doubt, for the first time since I started the process about 6 years ago, that being a doctor may not be fate. While I don't fully believe that I could be just as satisfied pursuing a PhD in neuroscience, I'm trying to believe it. I have haven't heard from one school yet, no interiews, nothin! Sigh.....

You know...I hate the stats question. This process is so random. People with the same, better, and worse stats have been accepted. People with the same, better, and worse stats have been rejected. So for me...it was a matter of renewing, maintaining, and strenghtening my faith in God. Yes, I improved my MCAT. That being said...it's still the average for applicants. My undergrad science GPA was below a 3.0; I've taken about 30 hours of upper level bio classes as post-bacc coursework (GPA above 3.5). I've also added numerous ECs since my last application.

So in a roundabout way, I've answered your stats question. However, I think it's so easy to get caught up into the stats game. Getting into med school is a process. That process isn't the same for everyone. I could say more, but thiat's another thread.

I am on #4 with no plans to stop. I am feeling good this cycle--probably, b/c I took off 15 months from work to take addl courses and beef up my MCAT scores. The sacrifice was well worth it, and in the two interviews I have had this go round there seems to be some acknowledgment of my perserverance. DO NOT GIVE UP! Consider SGU or other foreign medical schools before you give up on your dream.
