How much are GP dentists making per month and how much of that is going towards paying off monthly expenses? Whats your monthly net income?

I used to hate the design of the model X but it grew on me. Now, I prefer to drive the model X over model S because of the smoother ride quality. I like the falcon wing doors and the automatic front driver's door, which swings open when I approach the car and closes when I walk away (or step on the brake). I don’t need to shift the gear to D nor to R because it automatically puts the car in Reverse when it recognizes an obstacle in front of it, and vice versa. The latest full self driving software actually works very well now….the car automatically stops at the red light (and stop signs) and when the traffic lights switch to green, it moves.

I recently bought another model X. The reason the car looks glossier on the 2nd photo was I applied the clear protection film on it (by myself). The paint quality of the Tesla is not good; therefore, having the protective film is a must. The red model S next to it is a 6 yo car and it runs like new…no engine noise, no vibration, the battery still holds the charge well at 300 mile range (335 miles when it was brand new). And that black BMW X7 will soon be replaced with another model X when its lease expires. I plan to go 100% electric. So I don’t have to bring them in every 6-10 months for maintenance like the gas cars. It’s good that Tesla reduced the price by $40k. I’ve had enough fun with the German luxury cars. Now, I just want cheap and reliable cars….I can’t work (to pay for these toys) forever. It's time for me to slow down.

I see a scratch and a dent on the driver's side lower panel.

We have the least fancy & exciting cars but we have the roomiest garage (almost 1400 sq ft I'm paying property tax on). Excuse all the crap clutter. Renovating it will be on my bucket list or not.

It's nice to be rich.
It's nice to have a stable recession proof profession. It's nice that you don't have to live in fear of getting an unexpected layoff.
I just ordered a model Y a few days ago.
Good choice. It's the number 1 selling Tesla model. Your daily commute will be so much fun, instead of being stressful.

You missed a spot
Must be a small one. If I don't see it then it's not an issue. I am not very picky. Tesla cars are notorious for panel gap and misalignment, paint imperfection etc. And this car has some of these imperfections as well.

Got a nail on a tire earlier today. Sill couldn't see anything wrong with the car while the guy fixed it.

Nice...I made you look.

Ah. Cars. Something I can identify with.
So. I needed a change of life. I traded my lifted and modified Jeep Gladiator along with my beloved Alfa Romeo 4C for a CPO Mercedes AMG GT roadster. This thing is a beast. Twin turbocharged V8. Front mid-engined. Hand built motor. This is not an ordinary Mercedes ( the SLs) with a weak chassis and big motor. This car was completely built in-house at the AMG division of Mercedes.

Still not into the electric cars.
Panamera looks fat to me.

Avg GP income 250k to 300k for associates in my area. Private office
PDS, DSO type, is 220k to 300k+ depending if are busy enough.
Fed position VAMC, etc.. is 200-250 for Staff dentist... 260-280k for Chief dentist.

Ordered a model Y last week and got the 0.99% APR as well! Delivery will be tomorrow, so excited for my first new car. I'm just a poor associate dentist but life is too short lol.

I canceled the order I did in April (6.49% APR) and re-ordered last month; got the 0.99% APR now.

Tesla has always thrown in special offers to help boost the sale, especially toward the end of the quarter. Don’t be surprise when you see a better deal from Tesla next quarter. Tesla is the only company that reduces the prices on their cars over time. All other auto companies raise prices on all of their newer models over time to keep up with the inflation. Six years ago, I paid over $100k for my 2018 Model S. Now, you can get a 2024 model S, which has longer range and better technology, for under $75k.

Like Tesla’s in-house 0.99% deal, I also offer a sweet deal at my office to attract more patients….to make ortho treatments affordable for everyone. My patients only pay a small down payment and the remaining balance is spread out over the 2 yr period…..zero interest. As long as I get paid the whole amount at the end of the 2 yr treatment, I am happy.

Holy sh..t!

I will never put anything on credit again except for buying homes. My credit went from 816 to 778 for having ONLY 2 inquiries in the past month. Almost had a heart attack when I saw that.

It goes right back up in 2 months lol. Don't sweat it.

How do you like the car?

I plan to pick up mine next week.

Does wonders for your Tesla resale value.

The decline in resale value doesn’t matter much if you plan to keep the same car for 8-10 years. So what if it becomes worthless after 10 years? Electric cars don’t have the same wears and tears like the gas cars. My 6-year-old Tesla (with 97k miles) runs smoothly like a new car…no noise….no engine vibration.....and still has the same original brake pads. Last month, I had to spent $2500 to change the 2 front brake pads on the leased BMW X7, which only had 29k miles on it. The paint on my Tesla is still in its perfect condition (no scratch, no swirl marks) because I wrapped it. It had 335-mile range when I first got it. After 6 years, the car now has 298-mile range, which is still plenty for daily commute. The new 2024 model S now has 402-mile range.

All cars are depreciable. The longer you keep the car, the less money you will lose. At least with Tesla cars, the consumers don’t have to pay higher prices for the latest model cars. Inflation has caused everything to go up, except the Tesla cars.

I dont think people who buy Tesla worry about resale value. It would be interesting to know the median household income of people who buy brand new Tesla. My guess is it might be 2X of the overall US median household income.

Before I got my first Tesla, I had driven 3 7-series BMW’s, a S-class Mercedes, and a GL class Mercedes SUV. At first, I didn’t trust Tesla because it was still a relatively new car company (in 2016). So I leased the first model S for 2 yrs. I loved it so much that I decided to purchase a second model S, which I still drive until the present time. Two years later, I got my wife a 2020 model X (this car later became my younger brother's car and he still drives it every day). And last year, I bought another model X.

The three biggest negatives of Tesla are: 1. the interior/seat quality, which is about the same level as a Toyota Camry, 2. very soft weak paint, which gets scratched very easily (I highly recommend getting the car wrapped with protection film), and 3. Poorer/rougher ride quality in comparison to the German cars. These were the reasons I decided to switch back to the BMW X7. But when I got the new BMW X7, I immediately realized how slow it was in comparison to the Teslas….and the lacks of cool technology (no autopilot, no youtube, no Netflix, the Apple Car Play/Android Auto sucks, the BMW phone app has very limited features) that every Tesla car has. Another inconvenience of owning a gas car is it requires frequent maintenances (oil changes, sparkplug changes, brake pads changes, brake fluid changes etc), which usually waste me an entire day (bring the car in, wait to talk to a service advisor, get a loaner, return a loaner, and wait to pick up the car). For Tesla, I only have to bring the cars in for getting new tires and this can be done quickly at any local tire shop. When I return the leased BMW in a few months, I plan to get another electric car…most likely, another Tesla.

We just picked up a model y LR 6 hrs ago... My spouse likes it so far.

I like my new model Y LR AWD so far. I was driving a 2007 Toyota Rav4 so this is a huge upgrade for me lol.

I have driven my Model Y for a couple of weeks now and I like the car.

Why isn't Tesla the best selling car by far in the US since it's not that much expensive than "regular" cars especially for people who qualify for the 7.5k tax credit?

Thought I’d chime in. North of 400k as an associate sounds great and is definitely doable if you are doing the right kinds of procedure. I’m a new doc working as an associate in a mostly insurance based practice. No gpr or AEGD experience. I made 130k my first six months out of school. If I keep this pace this year I should make 285k. I’m mostly doing fillings and extractions. I’ll do maybe 3 crowns a week and a RCT a week. So I definitely could see myself making more if I was doing more crowns/higher paying procedures, but even with just the basic procedures I feel like it’s going fine for my first year or so out of school.
What procedures are you doing for that kind of production? 3 crowns a week is low compared to salary

You cannot take it on long trips easily. They’re not a proven concept yet to many people. Many want simple proven reliability. Many people want something 30k or less.

I took mine for almost a 6-hr trip 2 wks ago. I only had to recharge once and it took me < 30 mins.

I get it it's a fairly new thing, so it's understandable for people to be skeptical.

EV car sales are declining because people are skeptical about this new technology. The sale prices of EV cars have gone down significantly and that’s good news for many of us, EV car lovers. You can lease an $110k electric Mercedes EQS for $800-900/month. An equivalent Mercedes S class would cost you at least $1300-1400/month to lease it. You can lease a $100k electric BMW IX SUV for $700/month. A Lucid sedan used be a $130-150k car…now you can get one for $70k….or lease it (if you are worried about Lucid going bankrupt) for $549/month. You can lease a Rivian for $699/month. I will never go back to driving a gasoline car again.

Resale values are also down....you can get a used one for very cheap. And a used EV car is not like a used gasoline car. There are not a lot of mechanical wears and tears for EV cars.

This is one happy owner, who has driven his Model 3 for 6 years….the battery degradation is very minimal (9-10%)….the car has 200k miles and the original brake pads are still good. It is just as fast as a BMW M3 and doesn’t break the bank.

I get paid 38% production so if I hit about 3000 a day then I’m on track for that. That’s really not that hard to do. Five or so extractions and five or so fillings plus exams and radiographs will get me around that number each day. The occasional crown/root canal helps but it’s not what my patient population usually wants/can afford. I’m at a fee for service office as well so that helps. Our fees aren’t crazy high but they are pretty solid so I only have to see 5-8 patients a day for treatment in order to be doing good. I don’t know how people see 15 patients a day for treatment I sometimes hear on forums.

That’s a high percentage. Plus being FFS. That’s really solid.

Thought I'd chime in with more of an average new grad associate position. I graduated in 2023 but got diagnosed with cancer immediately after and had to take the year off - no residency. I've been working at my current office for 3 months - the practice is very rural and mostly insurance based with a high proportion of in-network patients. I'm guaranteed $850/day or 33% of collections with no lab fees.

The year off from dentistry, combined with regaining use of my hands from chemo-induced neuropathy made things very slow at the start, but I'm starting to beat my daily guarantee depending on the day. Things are still ramping up and I'm hoping to start tackling some anterior endo and take some aligner CE.

Loan payments are $3500/month and rent is $1500 for a whole house to myself (and my dog).

Nothing about this is average. You’ve been through it! You’re killing life my man! Glad you’re healthy and coming back. You’re a lot stronger than I am, and going to see your numbers get better and better the more experience you get. You haven’t even been there one recall cycle yet!

Thanks man! The recall cycle thing really puts the timeframe in perspective. Super easy to get impatient, at least for me.
