How much are surgeons talking about med stud skills in OR?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think that a Surgeon wants it done his/her way, and that all Surgeons vary one degree or another. A Surgeon is the star of the show, and all things must work as he/she requires in order to get the job done. If a Surgeon is suggesting a better way, be thankful and comply. A Surgeon is responsible for the outcome and must have his/her needs met to accomplish a task of such great multitude. It is important to understand, that every Surgeon is a master at his/her task, and requires all that is required to do the best in every single detail.

I think it depends on the student. I agree that most cannot tie for Sh*&...I know firsthand...I am with my classmates most days 😀. I think students interested in surgery SHOULD be practicing skills. It took time but I perfected one handed and two handed ties, ambidextrous at that, simple, interrupted, various mattress, facial closures, buried sutures, sub-cuticular stitch etc., how to secure chest tubes and ports. I have had interns get pis*ed at me because I made them look like scheisser in front of the uppers or attending... depends on the person I guess.

So, you bumped a 3 year-old thread to brag that you can tie knots?

Your signature beneath your post is the most cringe-worthy thing I've ever read on this website... and I've spent many an hour reading the pre-med forums.

I like the confidence. We need more people with confidence in surgery these days. Fewer people talking about empathy and work life balance.

LOL that kid is such a tool
