So I'm studying for the DAT now and plan to take it in sometime late February early March. I was going through all the things that I have to buy to prepare and calculated it out to be around 500 dollars. Considering the test is 350 dollars that's almost 1000 dollars just to take the DAT once....WTF Are you guys spending the same amount?

If you read some of the breakdowns here, some of the materials used aren't cheap...
I scored 23AA/23TS/24 PAT/24RC. Academic average was 99.6th percentile. but it was because I used and abused all of the material below:

Crack DAT PAT - 10 tests Ace edition: $130
Crack DAT Reading - 5 tests Ace edition: $60
DAT Destroyer + Math Destroyer: $200
Cliff AP Biology: $20
Kaplan Blue Book: $50
DAT Achiever, 3 tests: $60
Topscore, 3 tests: $60

That's $580.

Everything I bought on that list was essential for me to get that score, and if I was missing any one of those material, I wouldn't have done as well.

You could choose not to buy some material, but then you'd always be wondering what score you could have had.

here is how much I spent.
dat destroyer 125
dat achiever 130
dat topscore 54.95
dat crack PAT 178
cliff's 14.98 for bio
so definitely is not cheap.

Yes we are spending the same amount, probably a little more for some. i think a total of $1300 for me maybe even more because i took the DAT twice =/.

I think I spent relatively little and I'm extremely happy with my scores.

DAT Destroyer (older edition): $102
KBB (older edition): $34
Barron's (older edition): $5
Chad's videos: $75
Topscore: $55
CDP 5 tests: $100
Got the pdf for Cliff's Bio for free online (look for it it's easy to get)

Total: ~$370

AP Cliffnotes Bio $0; got it from friend
Kaplan BB $50
Topscore $50
Crack DAT PAT $130
Destroyer $80, got it from friend
--------------------------------------------
Total: $310

Used nothing else.
