How much have you guys spent for the application process? Including MCAT, application fees, secondaries, and interviews. I ask because I really don't think I'll have the money to pay for it all. I may not be able to go at all 🙁 I'm putting $1200 of my financial aid overage into the bank, and another $1000 in the fall.

it all depends on applications fees, secondary fees, travel to and from interviews. car rentals/taxi rides/bus rides/subway rides/train rides.

I spent a lot but frequent flier miels do come in handy.

MUHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA

ahem.......

sorry about that I seem to lose it when I start talking about money. I applied by shotgun approach so I applied to quite a few schools allopathic and osteopathic. I spent around 1000 bucks on primarys and I shutter to think what I spent on secondary application which I believe was another 1000 bucks. I refused to send back a few secondaries cause of money issues and such.

I was blah about the whole thing.

Then.....when I thought I may only have a interview or two....SLAM! I ended up with 9 invites so far. I am also waiting to hear from about 9 more schools as well. I was estatic about this until I realize that the real money is spent getting to the interviews. I will say I have probably spent around 1000-1500 so far in my interview season. I have a DMU interview on the 21st which I have not bought a ticket for and I think I may turn down my interview invites to TUCOM and PCCOM. I already moved TUCOM from october to dec 10th but money is the main reason I may not go.

Now I am more WAHHHHHHHHHH than blah now. I realize that this has drained my bank account and my sanity as well. I'll say I spent around 3K so far and thats not counting and more interviews form this point on. 🙄

I applied to 26 schools total and got secondaries from 24 of them (returned 22 of them). Total so far, excluding any travel, is right around $2900. Add in the $200 MCAT and any test prep you may do (Kaplan, PR, EK) and that's even more. It's a bank-breaker, that's for sure!
