Im studying Bio for the DAT and noticed that the destroyer asked questions on physio/anatomy. Does anyone know how much depth we should know for all the systems? i havent taken physio or anatomy and I'm borrowing a physio book to read. I know we should know a good amount of everything but do we need to know every chemical that promotes inflammation and the interferon mechanism?

and any advice on preparing for the systems or sources would be much appreciated! im ready to lose my mind...

thanks!

You probably don't need to know the nitty-gritty detail that might be taught in an upper div physio class. However, you should have a solid understanding of physiological systems and basic anatomy. That is one of the sections that Cliff's is lacking in. I used Sherwood's Human Physiology: From Cells to Systems. They have dense two page summaries of each chapter which I would imagine would be sufficient for physio. From there, you can use the book for more detail as you see necessary. The book also presents basic anatomy of each system and is probably enough for what you are likely to encounter on the DAT.

Regardless, I wouldn't waste your time reading an entire physiology textbook from cover to cover. Whichever source you do use, skim it, read the summaries and the figures, and work through the details as you go. Do this until you have a solid grasp on the big picture concepts and the important details. You will discover what is important as you work through practice tests (DQV bio, TS, achiever) and through Destroyer Bio. Be efficient with your time and best of luck!!

Thank you! My buddy gave me his MCAT bio review book, which actually was mentioned in another thread, and I feel like it has a good breakdown of each system without going into too much detail. My friend told me that if you get 75% right in Destroyer, you are more than prepared for the actual since its so much harder... which would be nice. lol but im still going to work through Chad's videos and the destroyer for everything and this mcat book.
