I studied 6 six weeks straight, 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. I had six weeks between summer and fall classes, so I wanted to take the DAT before classes started up again. I scored 21/21/21.
If I had to do it all over again (my scores were marginal), I'd put in at least a solid 3 months. Better to error on the side of over studying than under studying.
The DAT book recommends 3 months of studying, but most people can do it in 1-2 months. I studied for 2 months but only on the science section, so my PAT/RC scores are low....(make sure you study the PAT it's hard!)...to answer your question AT least ONE month is needed to do well. Good Luck.
I studied for about 3 weeks for around 3-5 hours per day. Keep in mind, I completely neglected RC, QR, and PAT 😛. I think it really depends on the person and if they already have a good foundation and grasp of the material. You should have a feel for how much you know or don't know and adjust the amount of studying you need to do from there.
totally agree with gym addict. 4-5 hours for 3 weeks straight. ignored QR/RC/PAT. I would take a couple of practice test to see how you do on those non-science subjects. i wouldnt waste too much time practicing stuff you're solid on.
