I haven’t heard back from any schools except for an R from Keck a few weeks back. I think I might’ve applied to too many top schools and I applied later in the cycle. I was wondering what changes I should try to focus on for the next cycle in the coming months aside from completing things earlier. For example, will my PS and secondary essays need to change a lot if I reapply to some schools. Same goes for LORs.

Additionally here are my stats and ECs. If anyone can provide some advice on what they think I can improve on please let me know.

Nontrad URM Latino FL resident
uGPA 3.25 sGPA 3.25 high upward trend with 4.0 in some DIY post bacc courses
Graduate GPA (masters in microbio) 3.78
Mcat- 516 (127,128,131,130)

200 hours of research in two different labs (wet lab and computational bio) no pubs or posters
1000 hours volunteering for Latino student resource center
300 hours volunteer fundraiser for CMN hospitals
200 hours volunteering student mobile clinic
200 hours shadowing diverse specialties
100 hours hospice
Created a pipeline mentorship program for disadvantaged students, (leadership)
~ 500 hours Several other leadership positions
400 hours in a culinary club (leadership in a meaningful hobby)

I started out by applying to reaches and T30 programs and ran out of funds to apply to the rest so my list is a huge stretch for my stats.

Columbia, Harvard, Sinai, Einstein, Keck, Michigan, Boston, georgetown, u Florida, u Miami, Suny downstate, Ohio, Emory. No secondaries were submitted before mid September.

Thanks for any advice and sorry for the lengthy post.

I think you are suffering from mostly your school list and also applying slightly late. Not sure that any EC is a weakness. GPA might have some schools looking at you negatively. PS and LOR's you want updated, at least reworded at a minimum.

Next cycle you should apply to all of the FL state schools (FSU, UCF, USF, FIU, FAU, UF) and some of the lower yield OOS schools.

Also, apply to a few DO schools in case.

Your school list is what’s holding you back. Apply to all your FL schools next year
