Im wondering what peoples ages are on here that are applying/being interviewed&accepted at various med.schools.

ive looked up the national avg. age, and it appears im way up on on the higher end of the average (im almost 28 and wont be applying until next year, ill be 29 when they finally get my apps!)

is there hope for old bones like me?

PLEASE share your age and how far along you are in this process

THANKS! 🙂

going to LSU - New Orleans next year... coming straight out of undergrad... just turned 22

i'm curious how the girl situation works at med shcool, esp when half the people may be 1 - 15 years older than me

22, doing my apps this june. hopefully i'll be a 23rd medstudent.

i'm 27 and currently applying.

31, first year student.

I'm 29, now at the end of my second application cycle, and finally entering med school this fall 🙂

I'll be 32 when I start school at Pitt.

24, starting this fall.

wow..these are some great responses.

So far a pretty good mix....obviously the cluster down at the 22-24 age range..but still some hope for me! 🙂

keep the ages comin and ur status!

I'm 20...I'll be 21 when I start in the fall. There are a bunch of youngun's like me hanging out somewhere around here...I remember a thread last summer or fall and there were all these other 19 and 20 y/o's applying this year.

22, its been 2yrs since undergrad, finishing my masters in may, not sure if i'll get in for this fall, so maybe next yr, i'll be 23-24

I've always been the young one, thruout high schl, even college, was never completely legal till afterwards 🙁 Had to beg my friends for IDs 😛

@RapidDecomp, thats nice, I actually wanted to get med schl out str8 after undergrad, the plan was to be done by 24 goin on 25, but those darn MCATs🙁

i started university at 16, finished at 20 and took a year off and now im 21. i pretty much partied every week end and it was worth it!!!!

24 will be 50 when I'm done.

a friend of mine in NY doing the combined prog will be done with med schl at 23, and hopes to be done with cardiology residency by 27 🙄

I wouldnt trade my college yrs for the world though!!! Gettin into 21 even 25 (yeah they exist) and over clubs, as a 17yr old freshman was a thrill. 😛

I'm 23 right now turning 24 this summer which is when I'll be applying...HOPEFULLY I will matriculate into medical school fall of '04 when I'm 25. I think that's a bit older than average but hey, there were a couple of yrs where I had to get things together. Don't regret one darn second of it either...🙂

Good luck!😉

I am 21- turn 22 in the fall during my first year of med school. I started college at 16 - but then i took five years to finish - went abroad

24 now...*if* I start an MST Program next year I will be... (hopefully) 32 when I finish school, that does not include residency, post-doc.

25 in September when I start. Soon to be married as well..... and 36-37 isn't old!!!!! I bet you are not the oldest in your class!

I will turn 26 right after I start in September.

I'm going to be 22 next month!

I'm 27 now and will be 28 when I start in August. At first I thought this was old but obviously I was wrong. 🙂

There are people in my post-bacc classes who are older, up into their forties.

Another "baby" here...I just turned 21, so I'll be 21 when I start in the fall.😀

28 now, will be 29 when I start med school. Was 25 when I decided to go into a postbac program. You are a perfect age to do this, as far as I'm concerned!

23,... will be 24 when i start M1 this fall.

27, now be applying for 2004 class, so I will be 28 when I start(hopefully).

I'm 17 now and a senior in HS. Applying to combined programs and have been accepted to one: Penn State/Jefferson and waiting on others, so I'll be 20 or 21 when I start Med school.

25 now, 26 in august when i start and couldn't be any happier about it

23...out of undergrad for a year....hopefully will start in the fall (still waiting)!

I am 32, and will be starting at UT Southwestern in the fall. I am not the oldest in the class though. 🙂

I'm 19... I'll be 20 in 2 weeks! 😀 I will be 22 when I start medical school.

I turned 23 in march and will be 23 when I start medical school. I thought that most people starting medical school are 22. I see that there are other non-trads out there like me.

I am 22 and will be graduating in 2003 December and will be applying this summer for the 2004 entrance.

22, will turn 23 in october

Well I am 28 & will turn 29 this Nov. when I start my first year of med school.

I was 17 when I graduated high school so let's just say I needed about 10 years to "find myself." 😉

Will be 25 when I start medshool in August...(5years to get separate BA and BS degrees and 2 years to get my MS degree)

i'm 25 now. will be almost 26 when i start in the fall. and i'm very VERY glad to have taken the 4-ish years off before going to med school. 🙂

When I told my parents of my plans several years ago, my mother's response (after inquiring about residency, etc.) was, "So, you're not going to have a real job until you're in your mid-thirties."

I'm 25, been out of school 3 years, starting up at Tulane (tentatively) this fall.

I am 39 will be applying for 2005; will be 41 at the time I start med school assuming I get in 😛

However, I am very happy I made this decision to give it a try.

best

2 to the 3, Baby ---> 24 when I start this fall.
