How old can LORs be?

So I'm planning to take at least a year off or more before medical school and I was wondering how old can LORs be? My school has a LOR service for medical schools and they keep them up to 7 years. I'm guessing the general rule of thumb is to not send LORs greater than 3 years old?

I think that many would try to get any letter 2-3 years old reprinted with a current date by the original writer. If that isn't possible, and there is no better option, you would use it anyway.

Should be fine to keep them. But when you apply, make sure to have a few more current letters from your most recent activities. Need to keep that app fresh 😎

alot of medschools require letter to be no more than 2-3 years old.
